Earl Nightingale’s “The Strangest Secret” sold millions of copies and pretty much kicked off the whole self-improvement industry. His big idea was simple enough to fit on a napkin: we become what we think about most of the time. Just about everything we talk about on the show traces back to that one line.

Watch What You Let In

Fill your head with doubt, fear, and scarcity, and your results will follow your head right down. Nightingale’s point was that you have to feed your mind on purpose, with goals, with belief, with where you are trying to go. Whatever you put in is what you become.

Now Put It on a Sales Call

Same rule, different room. Walk in thinking like a trusted advisor who is there to help someone win, and that is how you will act. Walk in as someone “just trying to close one,” and the prospect will feel it, and that is what you will get. Your thinking sets the tone before you say a word.
